Batter Ella McCaughan, all-rounder Nancy Harman, and spinner Rebecca Tyson will play for Hampshire next summer.
The trio all played for Southern Vipers, the regional team based at Utilita Bowl, in 2024 as the side reached the semi-final of the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy.
McCaughan and Harman both extend their stays at Utilita Bowl having been awarded pro contracts in 2023, whilst it will be Tyson’s first pro deal having been a full time member of staff at the MCC and Lord’s.
McCaughan has called Utilita Bowl her home since she was 17 years old.
She made her debut for Southern Vipers in 2020, and helped the team to win five pieces of silverware from 2020-2024.
I’m really excited to have signed for Hampshire. The environment at Utilita Bowl has been great for my development for the last few years and I’m looking forward to a fresh challenge, with some new faces and see what the next few years holds for us as a team.
Ella McCaughan, Hampshire batter
In Ella, we have a five season Viper veteran, and she’s only 22 years of age. Ella has shown progression in her all round game with every season and as a wonderful batting technician and outstanding athlete, I’m sure she’ll be a leading protagonist for years to come in yellow and blue.
Adam Carty, Regional Director of Women's Cricket
The opening batter recorded her highest List A score in the summer when she made a quickfire 83 against Northern Diamonds at Utilita Bowl in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy, and has a total of six half-centuries to her name.
All-rounder Harman joined Southern Vipers in 2022 and played 26 matches for the club, helping them win two Charlotte Edwards Cups and the 2023 Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy.
She took seven wickets with her leg spin and scored 266 runs with a best of 38 coming in the Vipers’ RHFT semi-final against South East Stars in 2024.
I’m very proud to have signed a contract extension with Hampshire. This is an environment in which I thrive and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to contribute to the success of the club going forwards. I am extremely thankful to those around me who continue to support me in my cricketing journey.
Nancy Harman, Hampshire all-rounder
Nancy brings a combative tenacity and resilience to the group, who in ‘24, performed very well against late season personal targets which I hope will prove positive for future challenges. For the ‘25 season, as a batting all-rounder, she’s being primed, in a competitive market, for a middle order batting role in the Metro Bank One Day Cup alongside an impact role in the Vitality Blast.
Adam Carty, Regional Director of Women's Cricket
In The Hundred, Harman has featured for Trent Rockets and London Spirit, where she played in four matches between 2021-22.
Left arm spinner Rebecca Tyson also joins Hampshire, having been awarded her first-ever professional contract.
Tyson first caught the eye of head coach Charlotte Edwards during The Hundred when she was a net bowler for London Spirit.
I’m absolutely thrilled to be playing for Hampshire this year. As my first professional contract, it’s an incredible opportunity to represent such a passionate and talented team, and I can’t wait to give my all on the field.
Rebecca Tyson, Hampshire bowler
Bex came in to our squad at the back end of 2024, following an effective Second XI campaign with the Sunrisers, and she performed really well for the Vipers in September. Bex is classic slow left arm spinner, who is clearly embracing life as a professional cricketer, such have been the strides she’s made across all disciplines over the past month. We are delighted to have Bex in our ranks and I am sure she will make her mark on the domestic game in 2025.
Adam Carty, Regional Director of Women's Cricket
The slow left armer, who has played for Hertfordshire, then trialled with Southern Vipers and played for the team in their final three matches of the season.
She took three wickets on her debut for the club and claimed another wicket in the semi-final of the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy against South East Stars.
