Match Preview: Hampshire Hawks v Victoria, GSL 2024
Hampshire Hawks take on Victoria in their final group match of the Global Super League
A total of 12 Southern Vipers players have been retained across four franchises ahead of The Hundred this summer.
Southern Brave, led by Vipers’ head coach Charlotte Edwards, have retained the maximum of eight players for this summer, seven of which are Vipers.
Danni Wyatt, Lauren Bell, Maia Bouchier, Freya Kemp, Georgia Adams, Rhianna Southby, and Mary Taylor will all be back in green and black at Utilita Bowl this summer with the aim of going back-to-back after the Brave won the women’s trophy on the third attempt having been defeated twice by Oval Invincibles in 2021 and 2022.
Welsh Fire have retained Georgia Elwiss, Freya Davies, and Emily Windsor after a much improved 2023 season which saw the side, who finished bottom of the table in 2021 and 2022, reach the eliminator, only to lose out to Northern Superchargers on the basis of finishing third in the group stage after rain washed out their match.
Last year’s finalists Northern Superchargers have retained Linsey Smith, whilst London Spirit have kept hold of Charlie Dean, who captained the Lord’s-based side in the absence of Heather Knight in 2022.
This year’s Hundred gets underway on 23rd July with Oval Invincibles hosting Birmingham Phoenix, with Southern Brave taking on London Spirit at Utilita Bowl on 24th July.
Hampshire Cricket members will be given a priority window from 6-13th March to purchase tickets to this summer’s Hundred matches, along with a host of other benefits, including free entry to all Southern Vipers matches at Utilita Bowl.
