Wicket Keeper-Batter Toby Albert Signs Multi-Year Contract Extension

Innovative batter Toby Albert has penned a new deal with Hampshire until at least the end of the 2028 season

Wicket keeper-batter Toby Albert has signed a contract extension with Hampshire, keeping him at the club until at least the end of the 2028 season.

Albert, 24, came through the Berkshire pathway before gaining a place on the Hampshire Academy. He made his senior debut for the club in the 2021 Vitality Blast and has gone on to earn a reputation as a highly innovative batter.

He was the leading run-scorer in the 2025 Vitality Blast with 633 to his name, with six fifties, as Hampshire Hawks reached Finals Day for a record 11th time.

I’m absolutely delighted to extend my time with Hampshire. This is my home club, and I’m hugely proud to represent it. I’ve learned so much over the last few years and I’m excited about what’s ahead. We’ve got a brilliant group of players and staff here, and I’m determined to keep improving and help the club compete for more trophies over the next few seasons.

Toby Albert

Albert is known for his audacious ramps and scoops, hitting the ball behind him when facing up to fast bowling.

The 24-year-old is also an established wicket keeper in the shorter formats of the game.

In 50-over cricket, Albert has made his mark in the middle order. In 24 matches, he has scored five half-centuries with a best of 96 not out against Somerset in 2024.

His maiden fifty in the format came in a match-winning innings against Derbyshire, as his 84* helped Hampshire to a nervy two-wicket win.

Toby has become an integral part of the squad and embodies everything this club stands for. He has come through our pathway, developed year on year, and his performances in last season’s Vitality Blast showed what he is capable of. We’re delighted he has committed his future to Hampshire and look forward to watching him continue to grow over the coming years.

Giles White, Director of Cricket

Albert made his First-Class debut against the Sri Lanka Development XI in 2022, where he scored an unbeaten 69, and made his County Championship debut on loan to Kent in July 2023.

But in his fourth Championship game for Hampshire, Albert scored his maiden professional century as his 114 against then-champions Surrey at Utilita Bowl aided Hampshire to a mammoth victory by an innings and 278 runs.

He would score a second 100 against Essex at Utilita Bowl later that same season.
