Hampshire Cricket wicketkeeper-batter Aneurin Donald has signed a short-term loan deal with Derbyshire.
The 26-year-old will provide cover for the injured Brooke Guest who is awaiting scan results for a minor hamstring strain.
Donald was part of the Vitality Blast winning squad of 2022 in his first year back playing professional cricket having spent two years side-lined by injury.
The powerful middle order batter scored 645 runs across all formats for Hampshire in 2022, with six half-centuries, including two scores of 90+ in the County Championship, and an extraordinary innings of 76 (31) against Yorkshire in the Royal London Cup.
This opportunity provides Aneurin a great platform to get up and running in this season's Vitality Blast. The “Blast Off” on Saturday is a new concept and should be an exciting start to the competition.
Giles White, Director of Hampshire Cricket
We need short-term cover for Brooke while he gets back to full fitness and Aneurin is a very talented cricketer, who we feel will step into the wicketkeeper role well for us. He’s a well-established all-formats player and having returned from injury in 2022, he was part of a side which reached the semi-finals of the One-Day Cup and lifted the T20 trophy.
