Bouchier & Bell Named In England Squad For Historic Lord’s Test Against India

Hampshire duo Maia Bouchier and Lauren Bell have been named in England Women’s 15-player squad for the historic Test match at Lord’s next month.

The pair are among a strong squad that will face India Women in the one-off Test match at Lord’s from 10-13 July, with Nat Sciver-Brunt set to become the first England Women’s captain to lead her side in a Test at the Home of Cricket.

Bouchier arrives in the squad in exceptional form after producing a stunning unbeaten 136 against Essex in the Metro Bank One Day Cup on Wednesday. Her knock, featuring 18 fours and two sixes, helped Hampshire secure victory as she and McCaughan shared a record-breaking unbroken 246-run partnership - the highest stand for any wicket in the competition’s history.

Bouchier, announced herself on the Test stage with a century on debut against South Africa in Bloemfontein in December 2024. The right-hander scored 126 in her first innings, becoming one of a select group of players to register a hundred on Test debut.

Alongside Bouchier, fast bowler Lauren Bell has also been retained in the squad. The Hampshire seamer has become a key figure across England’s formats in recent years and remains an integral part of the national setup.

Bell made her Test debut against South Africa in 2022. The 25-year-old has continued to establish herself as one of England’s leading pace bowlers and is playing a pivotal role in England's ongoing ICC Women’s T20 World Cup campaign.

Both Hampshire players featured for England in the Women’s Ashes Test against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in January 2025 and will now be hoping to play a part in another landmark occasion for the women’s game at Lord’s.

We have selected a strong Test squad under the leadership of Nat Sciver-Brunt for what will be another historic few days at Lord’s for women’s cricket. Test cricket is a rare and wonderfully challenging experience in the women’s game and I know how proud our players are to represent England in this format. For the 11 women who will get the chance to be the first to enjoy that feeling at Lord’s, it will be a moment to savour.
