Experienced Batter Joe Weatherley Pens Contract Extension
29-year-old middle-order batter Joe Weatherley has signed a new deal with Hampshire
Experienced batter Joe Weatherley has signed a new contract with Hampshire. The deal sees him remain at Utilita Bowl until at least the end of the 2028 season.
Born in Winchester, Weatherley is a product of Hampshire’s highly successful pathway and has played 211 matches for the club across all formats of the game.
He is the club’s third-leading run-scorer in T20 cricket, with 2,741 runs, behind only James Vince and Michael Carberry.

At this year’s men’s Vitality Blast Finals Day, Weatherley scored an unbeaten 88 in the semi-final against Notts Outlaws and followed it up with 75 as the Hawks lost in the final over.
The two innings made him the first man to score two fifties on a single Finals Day and the highest individual scorer on a Finals Day. At Finals Days, Weatherley has racked up 330 runs in six innings at an average of 82.50.
His 2026 campaign also saw him finish up as the leading run-scorer in the men’s Vitality Blast with 591 runs at an average just under 50.
I’m really pleased to extend my contract with Hampshire. This club has been my home for twenty years and over ten years professionally, and I love playing my cricket and being part of the dressing room here at Utilita Bowl. We’ve got a great group of players, and I’m motivated to contribute across formats and continue our success, particularly in white ball cricket, where we’ve been in knockouts and finals regularly, and bring some trophies home.
Joe Weatherley
Weatherley made his senior debut in April 2016 and has gone on to represent Hampshire in over 200 matches – 110 of which have been in T20s.
He scored his first fifty on his First-Class debut, and a maiden professional century for Hampshire came in the club’s title-winning Royal London Cup campaign when Weatherley smashed an unbeaten 105 against Kent at Utilita Bowl.

Weatherley has lifted two trophies with Hampshire, both in white ball cricket, when the team won the 2018 Royal London Cup, beating Kent Spitfires by 61 runs in the final, and the 2022 Vitality Blast.
Across his career at Hampshire, Weatherley has racked up 6,163 runs with 31 fifties and five hundreds.
Joe has become an integral member of the squad and a match-winner in white ball cricket. His Blast record this year was exceptional, topped by two half-centuries at Finals Day. We are delighted that he has committed his future to the club for a further two years.
