England have announced their own 14-man squad as the look to end their summer on a high, and here is all you need to know about the group of players tasked with trying to secure a home victory.

Since their shock elimination from the 2015 Cricket World Cup, England have introduced a new aggressive and exciting style  to their approach, now regularly amassing totals beyond 300 as a result.

Led by captain Eoin Morgan, the side has a wealth of attacking talent in the top-order, which starts with opening pair Jason Roy and Alex Hales, who are just as destructive as one another.

Surrey batsman Roy has experience of playing all around the world, racking up three ODI centuries in his career so far whilst Hales is approaching 2,000 runs for his country in the 50-over format, averaging just under 40.

England’s Test captain Joe Root arrives at the create at number three, and he often proves to be the backbone of the home-side's batting order offering consistent runs at the top of the order in all formats -  scoring 10 centuries an averaging almost 50 runs every time he takes to the field.

Left-hander Morgan has amassed over 5,000 ODI runs in a distinguished List A career on the global stage, whilst the 30-year-old also offers composure and excellent leadership in his role as captain.

Jonny Bairstow and Jos Buttler are England’s wicket-keeping options for the series, with the pair also possessing immense skill with the bat despite their contrasting styles of play.

Bairstow has had an enjoyable last 18 months, winning the 2016 Wisden Cricketer of the Year for his impressive performances with the bat, which saw his score over 1,700 runs in 2016 with an astonishing average of over 80.

In contrast, Buttler is known for his power-hitting and ability to finish the innings strongly, and with a strike rate of almost 120 in ODIs, it is easy to see why the Lancashire batsman is so effective in his role.

England are also overwhelmed with all-rounder options for the series, with a number of cricketers on the county circuit impressive with both bat and ball.

Ben Stokes is considered by many to be the ultimate modern day all-rounder, and no finer demonstration of his ability with the bat came during his last visit to the The Ageas Bowl hitting a sublime century on his last visit to the The Ageas Bowl.

Stokes' effectiveness and success with the ball should also not go overlooked as he continues to showcase his ability to bowl crucial wicket-taking spells for England - a perfect example of which was shown during day one of England's third Test against West Indies at Lord's, where he claimed a sensational 6-22.

Chris Woakes is another all-rounder in the squad, and the Warwickshire man is more known for his bowling, but after striking a half-century in the Test series, he definitely knows what side of the bat to hold.

Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid are the spin options for the five-match series against the West Indies, with the latter featuring more significantly for England in limited-overs cricket.

Rashid has taken almost 200 wickets in this format, whilst Ali has struck two centuries and five half-centuries occupying the middle-order alongside his off-spin.

As well as spinners, England possess a quartet of fast bowlers that are no strangers to performing with bat in hand too.

Yorkshire’s David Willey has proven to be an exceptional asset with the new ball, with the left-armer totalling more than 100 wickets so far, but the all-rounder can also provide useful lower order runs with the bat, striking at almost a run a ball.

England have a new edition to their ODI squad for these upcoming games against the West Indies in the form of Surrey paceman Tom Curran.

After breaking through to the first-team at county level, Curran soon earned his place in the England Lions, where he continued to impress. Since then, his game has gone up another level, and is known for his ability to bowl well at the death.

Although they have plenty of options with the ball in the selected 14-man squad, Liam Plunkett and Jake Ball are the out and out bowlers in the England side.

Plunkett has devastating pace, claiming more than 200 scalps averaging of just over 30, but does have three first-class centuries in his career, and as seen in that thrilling draw against Sri Lanka, he can be a handful with bat in hand when called upon.

Jake Ball is the final player in the squad, and although he has played just 14 times for his country in ODIs, the Nottinghamshire seamer has taken 20 wickets with an impressive career best of 5-51.
