Hampshire Hawks Turn Utilita Bowl Into A T20 Fortress

Hampshire Hawks have made a flying start to the 2026 Vitality Blast, turning Utilita Bowl into a fortress as both the men’s and women’s sides build early momentum heading into a pivotal second block of fixtures.

After the opening rounds, the men’s team sit top of the South Group with five wins and one loss, underlining their credentials as serious contenders. A key factor in that success has been their dominance on home soil, with three wins from three at Utilita Bowl helping to lay a strong platform for the campaign.

The women’s side have matched that impressive home form, remaining unbeaten in their opening three fixtures in Southampton. The consistency across both squads has reinforced the venue’s status as one of the most difficult places for visiting teams to come and secure results in the competition.

Strong performances on the pitch have been matched by superb support off it. Thousands of fans have already turned out across the first block of games, creating a vibrant atmosphere that has played a clear role in Hampshire’s early success. The standout occasion came in the Double Header against Surrey, a special 25-year anniversary fixture which drew a bumper crowd and delivered both spectacle and result.

That match epitomised Hampshire’s strong start, with the Hawks producing a clinical performance to overcome one of their fiercest rivals. It followed another home success against Sussex Sharks, further strengthening their position at the top of the table and building confidence heading into the next phase of the competition.

With the Blast now moving into its crucial middle stages, attention turns to a packed and exciting schedule of fixtures at the Utilita Bowl, where Hampshire will look to continue their dominant run.

Four home matchdays remain, beginning with a blockbuster Yorkshire double header on Friday 26 June. The fixture is set to be a highlight of the summer, with ‘Blast Fest’ bringing an enhanced matchday experience alongside the action on the pitch as both the men’s and women’s teams take on Yorkshire.

Just two days later, the Hampshire Hawks Women return to Utilita Bowl to face Durham on Sunday 28 June, offering another opportunity for supporters to see one of the standout teams of the early competition up close.

A major double header follows on Sunday 5 July, with Lancashire Thunder and Kent Spitfires the visitors for a day packed with T20 action, before the final home fixtures of the group stage take place on Wednesday 8 July as The Blaze and Middlesex come to Southampton

With qualification for the knockout stages on the line, every game in Block 2 carries added significance. Hampshire’s strong start has given both teams a solid foundation, but maintaining their home dominance will be key to securing progression in what remains a highly competitive competition.

For Hampshire Hawks, the message is clear, defend the fortress, build on the momentum, and turn early promise into a sustained push for Vitality Blast success.
