Hampshire Legend James Vince Inducted Into The T20 Hall Of Fame

Hampshire Hawks men’s captain James Vince is one of the first players to be inducted into the new T20 Hall of Fame along with Charlotte Edwards and Danni Wyatt-Hodge

Hampshire Hawks captain James Vince has been inducted into the new T20 Hall of Fame.

The 35-year-old is the all-time leading run scorer in the men’s Vitality Blast, with 6,357 runs to his name. He has also scored more half-centuries in the competition than anyone else (46) and has the second-most hundreds (five).

Vince has also won all three of Hampshire Hawks’ T20 trophies, captaining the team to victory in the dramatic final against Lancashire in 2022.

Former Hampshire and Southern Vipers, the women’s regional team based at Utilita Bowl, players Charlotte Edwards and Danni-Wyatt Hodge are also amongst the first to be inducted into the T20 Hall of Fame alongside Ravi Bopara.

England legend Edwards moved to Hampshire and Southern Vipers in 2016 and won the inaugural Women’s Cricket Super League. From there, she forged a remarkable career as a player and later as a coach.

In 2021, the regional women’s T20 competition was named in her honour as the Charlotte Edwards Cup, which she won as a coach in 2022 and 2023.

Wyatt-Hodge was part of Southern Vipers from 2017-2024 and became one of the most prolific run-scorers for the club.

In 44 T20 matches for the Vipers, Wyatt-Hodge racked up 1,343 runs with eight fifties and one century; she too won the Charlotte Edwards Cup twice.

This marks an historic moment for men’s and women’s domestic T20 cricket in England and Wales as the game celebrates four of its iconic players on the eve of the new Vitality Blast season.

The inductees were selected for addition into the T20 Hall of Fame by an independent expert panel, alongside a public vote, from a 12-player shortlist that the ECB announced in March.

The T20 Hall of Fame is to become an annual celebration, recognising those people whose performances, leadership and influence have left a lasting legacy on the domestic game.

Players, coaches and administrators from across the major domestic T20 competitions in England and Wales are eligible for consideration.

This summer’s new-look Vitality Blast begins next Friday with ‘Blast Off’ when 16 double headers will be played over the opening Bank Holiday Weekend.

Hampshire Hawks then get their Vitality Blast campaign going against Somerset at Taunton on Friday 22 May before a first home double header against Essex on Tuesday 26 May.
