Match Preview: Hampshire Hawks v Victoria, GSL 2024
Hampshire Hawks take on Victoria in their final group match of the Global Super League
Hampshire remain in the hunt for quarter-final qualification heading into tomorrow’s final Group One fixture against Durham at Emirates Riverside, although only a victory will keep them in contention for the knockout stages.
A comfortable DLS victory last time out against Kent Spitfires saw Kyle Abbott’s side consolidate their top four position and another positive result will be required in the group-stage curtain-closer.
Hampshire Squad:
A 14-man squad has been named for Thursday’s fixture, with Toby Albert the one addition the group that featured against Kent Spitfires, replacing Lewis McManus who is suffering from concussion.
Ian Holland starred with both bat and ball at Beckenham last week, picking up four wickets and striking an unbeaten 30 to see Hampshire home in quick-time – he’ll likely be an important figure in both disciplines once again.
Captain Abbott has impressed in his first sustained period skippering the side, but his contributions with the ball have been as impressive as ever too with the seamer claiming 21 wickets in seven fixtures so far this campaign. He will be hoping to add to his win and wicket tally against Durham in the hope of guiding the squad to a third successive knockout stage appearance.
