Match Preview: Hampshire Hawks v Somerset, Vitality Blast

An unchanged 14-player squad has been named ahead of the Hawks’ second Vitality Blast fixture of the season against Somerset

Hawks v Somerset
Vitality Blast (South Group)
Monday 30th May (7pm start)
The Ageas Bowl

Hampshire Hawks take on Somerset in their second Vitality Blast game of the season at The Ageas Bowl tomorrow night.

The two met in at Finals Day last season as Somerset came out on top in a tight semi-final – before going on to lose against Kent Spitfires in the Final at Edgbaston.

James Vince’s side will be out for revenge and looking to bounce back from the 10-run loss they suffered at the hands of Middlesex in Friday night’s season opener.

Somerset got off to a winning start on Wednesday, beating Kent this time, and play Essex Eagles at Taunton this evening before heading down to The Ageas Bowl.

Hampshire Squad

The Hawks have named an unchanged 14-man squad for this match.

Debutants Ben McDermott (28), Ross Whiteley (27) and Nathan Ellis (1-30) all showed glimpses of what’s to come on Friday night.

Skipper James Vince top scored with the bat, hitting five fours on his way to 47 in an innings that almost carried the Hawks to victory.

Mason Crane is in line to make his 50th appearance in the T20 format for Hampshire.
