Hampshire host Surrey in a day-night eliminator at Utilita Bowl in the women’s Metro Bank One Day Cup.
The Rose and Crown secured second place after beating then top-of-the-table Blaze with a bonus point, thanks to a scintillating century from Maia Bouchier and 52 from Abi Norgrove.
Bex Tyson’s three for 40 helped keep the Vitality Blast and County Cup champions to 249 for seven in their 50 overs before a dominant display of batting chased the target with one ball to spare for the bonus point.
The Blaze’s victory over Essex last Friday then saw them regain top of the table, whilst Surrey’s defeat of Somerset by just one wicket – in what was effectively a quarter-final – saw the Three Feathers retain third place.
Former Hampshire all-rounder Alice Monaghan claimed two for 54 with the ball as Sophie Luff and Niamh Holland both powered their way to centuries.
South African Suné Luus and Kira Chathli both reached half-centuries as Surrey got over the line with three balls to spare.
Hampshire have named a 15-player squad for their eliminator against Surrey at Utilita Bowl.
Georgia Adams is back after she missed the final group game as an injury precaution.

Player movement: Former South Africa captain Sune Luus replaces Australian all-rounder Maitlan Brown, who was with the Three Feathers for the first block of fixtures. Luus will be available for the remainder of the season and is set to debut against Hampshire at Guildford on 19th August. Two other additions to the squad are Rachel King and Emily Burke. Wicketkeeper-batter King signed a rookie contract in October after spending much of last year in Surrey’s Vitality Blast squads, while Burke is promoted from the academy. Big-hitting seamer Emma Jones has permanently headed north to The Blaze, while another quick, Alexa Stonehouse, has gone on a season-long loan to Warwickshire.
The big question: Surrey were all-but unstoppable in the Vitality Blast last season but must uncover the secret of how to transfer that dominance to the longer white-ball format. There were several instances in 2025 of the bowling attack coming up short defending scores of around 300, most notably in the semi-final against Hampshire where their total of 287 was overhauled with almost three overs to spare.
Player to watch: Tilly Corteen-Coleman. Given the teenager was sold at the recent Hundred auction for £105,000, it seems spurious to flag her as one to watch. However, much of her success so far has come in T20 whereas in the 2025 One Day Cup she took only two wickets. Only 18, the slow left-armer is still learning her craft, and if she makes a leap forward in this format, Surrey may do too.
Final thought: Alice Capsey, Sophia Dunkley, Ryana MacDonald-Gay and Danni Wyatt-Hodge are centrally contracted to England, and Stonehouse has been loaned out, so there are question marks over availability in a World Cup year. Much may rest on the shoulders of last season’s leading run-scorer Alice Davidson-Richards and spinners Corteen-Coleman and Dani Gregory if Chathli is to enjoy success in her first season as skipper.
