Northern Diamonds v Southern Vipers
Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy
Tuesday 4th September (10:30am start)
South Northumberland CC, Gosforth
Southern Vipers make the long trip up north as they take on Northern Diamonds at South Northumberland CC in Gosforth, Newcastle.
The regions have featured in all three Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy Finals to date, but it seems unlikely we’ll have a repeat in 2023 as the two sides currently sit fourth and fifth in the table, separated by just two points.
The two sides practically faced each other in the final of The Hundred, as Charlotte Edwards’ Southern Brave side, featuring eight Vipers players, defeated Dani Hazell’s Northern Superchargers containing three Diamonds, including captain Hollie Armitage.
The match at Gosforth is set to feature Hundred winners Georgia Adams, Rhianna Southby, and Mary Taylor, along with Hundred finalists Hollie Armitage and Leah Dobson.
Southern Vipers Squad
Southern Vipers have named a 14-player squad for their first trip to Gosforth.
Lauren Bell, Maia Bouchier, Charlie Dean, Freya Kemp, and Danni Wyatt are all unavailable on international duty.
Australian Nicole Faltum returns to the Vipers roster for the first time since winning the Charlotte Edwards Cup in June where she finished the competition with the most dismissals of any keeper.
Nancy Harman also returns to the squad after impressing with 95* in the South Central Counties Cup Best v Best match, whilst Sophie Mitchelmore is included in a Vipers squad for the first time this year.
Spinner Linsey Smith is unfortunately unavailable due to a calf injury.
Chloe Hill has returned to South East Stars on loan for the remainder of the season.
