Southern Vipers secured second place in the Charlotte Edwards Cup after securing a bonus-point victory against Sunrisers at Hove on Wednesday.
Captain Georgia Adams led the way with the bat as she finished on 63* off just 33 balls, whilst Linsey Smith returned her best figures of the season, and her best for the Vipers since August 2016, of 3-13 from four overs.
Aiming to defend their crown, the Vipers will take on Thunder in the eliminator at midday before a potential final against the so-far unbeaten Blaze who are yet to lose a match across both the Charlotte Edwards Cup and Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy.
In the previous two editions of the Charlotte Edwards Cup, the team that finished top of the group(s) has gone on to lift the trophy – South East Stars in 2021, and the Vipers in 2022.
Charlotte Edwards’ side will be hoping to break the chain and get her trophy back and become the first team to defend their CEC title.
