Three Hampshire Stars Given England Women Central Contracts
Lauren Bell, Maia Bouchier and Freya Kemp have been awarded central contracts by the ECB
Maia Bouchier was in the runs over the last week, despite Melbourne Stars being knocked out of contention for the play-off stages of the WBBL.
She scored 23 in the Stars’ defeat to the Hurricanes before top scoring with 41 from just 29 balls as they posted 156-5 on their way to a 15-run win against Brisbane Heat.
Bouchier is now the Stars’ fourth highest run scorer with 215 runs.
Georgia Adams’ Adelaide Strikers have climbed back up to second place with back-to-back wins against both Sydney sides.
Against Thunder, Adams took the catch to dismiss Chamari Athapathuthu for 43 to help restrict the lime green team to 118-6 before the reigning champions knocked off the total with 13 balls remaining.
Adams then helped restrict the Sixers to 122-8 before 45 from Katie Mack and 38* from Tahlia McGrath helped see the Strikers home with seven wickets and 15 balls to spare.
Sydney Sixers are currently sixth in the table with their chances of qualifying for the play-offs slim but still a possibility.
They were defeated in their previous two matches, with a 61-run loss to table-topping Perth Scorchers before a defeat to Adams’ Strikers.
Meanwhile in the Middle East, England Women A are getting stuck in to their training camp in Oman, where Charlie Dean and Freya Kemp are preparing for England Women’s tour of India in December, whilst Rhianna Southby has joined up with a Three Lions squad for the first time.
