The Ageas Bowl’s 10k Run Raises £5,000 For Charity In First Race In Three Years
Over 700 runners took part in the first The Ageas Bowl 10k which raised over £5,000 for the Hampshire Cricket Foundation
The Ageas Bowl 10k road race returned on Sunday 9th October - for the first time since 2019 - with the race hosted to help raise money for the Hampshire Cricket Foundation.
The Hampshire Cricket Foundation has been fundraising for Southampton Hospitals Charity since 2020, and has already donated over £100,000 to help support the construction of a specialist rehabilitation space within the GICU at University Hospital Southampton, the requirement for which has been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The event – which raised over £5,000 for Hampshire Cricket Foundation with countless more raised by individuals running for good causes – was staged in partnership with Running Mania and generously supported by Ageas and Hampshire Wellbeing Centre. Over 700 entered to get fit, raise money for charity, improve their wellbeing and just for the fun of it.
It was great to see the return of this community event, all while raising money for a fantastic cause. To see so many runners – of different ages and abilities – enjoy the race and get the opportunity to set foot on The Ageas Bowl’s famous outfield was really inspiring. We’re already looking forward to the return of the race next year and would like to take this opportunity to thank, and congratulate, all the runners who took part in this year’s edition.

Runners – who were cheered on by local residents who’d lined the roads around The Ageas Bowl - finished the fast, flat course on venue’s famous outfield, in front of the iconic Rod Bransgrove Pavilion, with everyone taking part receiving a free t-shirt and medal courtesy of Ageas.
There’s a lovely feel to The Ageas Bowl 10k and it’s always one of the races I look forward to the most. The fact I set a PB in this year’s race – and broke the one-hour mark for the first time – means I won’t forget this year’s edition in a hurry and look forward to running again in 2023!

16-year-old Jasmine Goss won the women’s race while Rob Arkell came home first in the men’s race, with The Ageas Bowl’s 10k to return on Sunday 8th October 2023 with more details announced in due course.
