Hampshire Wellbeing Centre Summer Update
A summer update from the Hampshire Wellbeing Centre team.
From mindset to summer skin, plus some team updates - read on to discover our Hampshire Wellbeing Centre updates.
Martin has been one of our team of Clinical Specialist Physiotherapists, and having served a long career in both NHS and private practices, is now calling it time to retire. Martin graduated from University in 1996 and has gained a vast amount of experience through his career. He eventually went on to specialise in both the spine and shoulder, having worked with a number of well-regarded orthopaedic consultants around the South of England.
We would like to take this opportunity to say a big THANK YOU to Martin, for being a valued member of the HWC team, a great colleague to discuss cases with, and a great friend who can be found out on the cricket pitch, or out for a dog walk. We wish Martin a very happy and well-deserved retirement.
We want to reassure you that we still have two shoulder specialist Physiotherapists within the team, Debbie and Joanna, along with Steph our spinal specialist, and Cally who sees a variety of joints, who will be stepping in following Martin’s departure.
With the summer holidays approaching and a change in routine on the horizon for many of us, it's natural to wonder how we'll cope with the heat, children being off school, disrupted schedules, and the goals we may need to put on hold for a while.
It's common at this time of year to feel pressure to stay on track. We tell ourselves we need more discipline, more motivation, or a better plan. But often the biggest obstacle isn't a lack of effort or willpower - it's the amount of mental clutter we're carrying.
Overthinking, self-doubt, stress, and worry can make even simple things feel difficult. When our minds are busy, we tend to lose sight of our natural wellbeing, clarity, and resilience.
As a therapist, coach, and author of A Clear Mind: The Less is More Mindset, my work focuses on helping people understand how their minds work so they can experience greater wellbeing and perform at their best. Rather than adding more strategies, techniques, or things to do, I help people uncover what gets in the way of the clarity and confidence they already possess.
Whether you're feeling stuck in your personal life, struggling with stress at work, looking to improve your confidence, or simply wanting to feel more like yourself again, support is available.
If you'd like to find out more or book an appointment, please contact Chris Finn on 07515 478034 or email [email protected].

As we spend more time outdoors over the summer, it's a great opportunity to enjoy the sunshine, but it's also a good time to think about looking after your skin. We all have moles and skin marks, but it's important to keep an eye out for any that are new, changing in size, shape or colour, have irregular borders, or become itchy or bleed. While many changes are harmless, early assessment is always the safest approach and can provide valuable peace of mind.
At Hampshire Wellbeing Centre, Torie offers a Mole Screening service using Map My Mole, where high-quality dermoscopic images are securely reviewed by a UK consultant dermatologist, with a detailed report typically available within 24–48 hours. Whether you've noticed a change or simply want reassurance about a mole that's been concerning you, don't ignore it, early assessment is key. Alongside regular use of sunscreen, protective clothing and avoiding the strongest midday sun, taking a few minutes to check your skin could make all the difference.
In early May our Osteopath James attended a home Hampshire Cricket match at Utilita Bowl to chat to members about their aches and pains during the lunchtime interval. A common discussion topic that came up was how Osteopathy can help with various ailments, including back pain, hip pain, neck pain etc. Like our other healthcare services, James is trained to provide a thorough assessment of the body to help determine what might be the underlying cause of someone's pain or stiffness, and provide treatment modalities to help that person overcome these, as described by a recent patient of his...
"James creates a very welcoming and comfortable environment, which made it easy to talk through the issues I was having with my hip. He explained everything he was doing and gave me clear and easy to follow instructions for the exercises that I needed to do. He was very reassuring that this was not long term and that the pain would go and I would be able to get back to doing all my normal activities and he was right! Thank you, James.”
If you are interested in how Osteopathy works or whether it may be able to help you, please get in touch directly with our Osteopath James on 07747513765.

If you would like 20% off an initial consultation with James, call 07747513765 and quote "VERTEX".
This offer is valid for new patients to Vertex Osteopathy only and is valid until the end of August 2026.
