Hampshire all-rounder Chris Wood hit a blistering century for Hampshire Second XI in their opening fixture of the season against Devon at the The Ageas Bowl.
The right-hander struck 116 from just 92 balls in Hampshire's second innings of the two-day fixture to ensure his side secured a draw, after the vistors had totalled 310-7d on the opening day.
Three wickets for Hampshire's Chris Jones (3-61), alongside efficient spells for Wood (1-14), Felix Organ (1-10) and Brad Taylor (1-17) kept things tight, after half-centuries for F Treymouth (73) and T Lammonby (70) put Devon in a promising position as they moved beyond 300.
A half-century from Ben Duggan (50) saw Hampshire begin well in reply, with runs also coming from Calvin Dickinson (34) and Tom Scriven (30*) to see Hampshire close on 130-4 at the end of day one.
An agreed change of match terms between the teams then saw Hampshire begin their second innings at the start of day two. Duggan (47) again looked in good touch, whilst Taylor (64) recorded a fine half-century from 105 balls.
Following the wicket of Felix Organ (15), Wood joined Taylor at the crease as the duo shared a valuable 54-run parnership. Despite Taylor departing following his fifty, Wood continued to strike the ball brilliantly, racing along to three figures in a fantastic innings which included 11 fours and seven sixes.
Devon then reached 176-2 in reply, before the players shook hands the match declared a draw.
