Freya Ruth Davies was born in Chichester, West Sussex on 27th October 1995 and is a right arm fast-medium bowler and right-handed batter.

Freya made her senior debut for Sussex in 2010, aged 14, and picked up her first county wicket against Kent the same year.

She featured numerous times for England Academy and development sides before featuring in the 2016 Kia Super League in 2016 where her Western Storm reached the final.

Davies has played 84 times for Sussex, most recently in June 2019, and has taken 84 wickets at an average of 19.46 for the county, with a best of 6-10 coming against Derbyshire in 2018.

She made her international debut against Sri Lanka in March 2019 where she took 2-28 as England skittled the home side for just 94.

In December the same year, she made her ODI debut on England’s tour of Malaysia against Pakistan.

Davies has, to date, featured 35 times for the Three Lions and has taken 33 wickets, with a best of 4-23 coming in an IT20 against New Zealand in March 2021.

In domestic cricket, she took 37 wickets in 36 matches for the Storm with a best of 4-18 coming against the Vipers in 2019, and picked up six Charlotte Edwards Cup and 18 Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy wickets in 27 matches for South East Stars.

Davies started her Hundred career at London Spirit, picking up five wickets in both the 2021 and 2022 seasons before a move to a revamped Welsh Fire saw her pick up seven wickets with a best of 2-19 against Trent Rockets.

She made her Vipers debut against her former side, South East Stars, but had to wait until her third game to pick up her first wicket in orange and black, as she claimed 2-51 against Western Storm at Bristol to help the Vipers to a thrilling four-run win.

Davies then claimed her best figures in the Charlotte Edwards Cup when she took 3-22 against Sunrisers at Arundel Castle before besting it with best Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy figures of 4-14 against South East Stars at Falkland CC in Newbury.

She picked up 25 wickets for Southern Vipers across the 2024 season, signing a contract with Hampshire as regional cricket transitioned into county cricket to align with the men’s first-class counties.

In the 2024 edition of the Hundred, Davies reached the final with Welsh Fire and claimed 11 wickets, the second-most for her side and joint fourth-most in the competition. Averaging just 12, she only failed to take a wicket once in eight appearances.
