Georgia Adams

All-Rounder

Born in Derbyshire, daughter of former Sussex and England batter Chris Adams, Georgia Adams has pathed her way to the top of the women's game and is one of the most prolific run scorers in the country.

Captain and a mainstay in the middle order, Adams is a fluent and, when needed, a brutal ball striker, who also contributes handy off-spin.

Adams made her debut for Southern Vipers in 2016, where she helped the team win the inaugural Kia Super League, before a brief stint at Loughborough Lightning.

2020 was a real breakthrough year for the Vipers, top scoring in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy with 500 runs.

The Sussex batter led the Vipers to back to back Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy victories in 2020 and 2021, and was thought of as one of the most talented players in the country not to have international recognition until her long-awaited debut in September 2024 against Ireland.

She recorded her career-best score of 154 off 155 balls against Western Storm in the 2020 Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy, as the Vipers racked up 288-1 – enough to win the match by 32 runs.

Her best List A bowling figures came a year later, as she took 4-35 in the final of the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy, with best T20 figures to follow in the 2022 Women’s County Championship – 4-16 for Sussex against Hampshire.

Adams first started getting serious about bowling when Vipers Head Coach Charlotte Edwards put her down in one of the pre-season bowling lanes, and it’s safe to say that decision has paid dividends for the all-rounder.

In 2023, she was the Vipers’ leading wicket taker in the Charlotte Edwards Cup, and second overall for the club, with only the returning Linsey Smith claiming more scalps than Adams.

She also picked up her best figures for the Vipers when she recorded 4-30 against Central Sparks at Wormsley in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy, and overtook Charlie Dean to become the team’s all-time wicket taker, an accolade which Dean also received in 2023.

In the same year, Adams became the first player to score 2,000 runs for the club, reaching the milestone against Northern Diamonds at South Northumberland CC on her way to 82 in a thrilling three-run victory in the north east.

Whilst she started the 2023 season with a duck, the skipper soon found her stride, and scored a total of 795 runs in 21 matches, with a best of 94* against The Blaze as the Vipers visited the Isle of Wight for the first time.

She scored six half-centuries across the season, four of which came in succession in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy, with a further seven scores above 30.

Adams also received a call-up to the England A squad to face Australia A in a three match one-day series at Loughborough, where she scored a best of 40.

In the winter of 2023-24, Adams won the WBBL with Adelaide Strikers, led by Southern Brave assistant coach Luke Williams, and was an overseas pro for New South Wales as she scored 354 runs – the second most of any NSW player.

She continued her success in 2024 as she scored 575 runs and took 29 wickets for Southern Vipers and, at the end of the summer, was awarded an England cap as she played in two IT20s on the Three Lions’ tour of Ireland in September.

Adams returned to New South Wales as captain in the winter of 2024 and was signed by Sydney Thunder for the WBBL.

She scored 47 runs and took one wicket in six matches as the Thunder finished third in the group stage whilst her 317 runs and 19 wickets saw New South Wales lift the WNCL trophy in Adams’ second season as skipper.
