Sports fans across the South will be able to enjoy another instalment of the fierce rivalry between England Men and Australia after it was confirmed the two sides will face-off in an iT20 match at The Ageas Bowl in 2024.

England and Australia will meet under lights at the home of cricket in Hampshire on Wednesday 11th September, and supporters are being encouraged to register their interest in tickets online from today, ahead of a ballot later in the year.

England Women will also be in action at The Ageas Bowl in 2024, with New Zealand Women the visitors for an iT20 on Saturday 6 July.

The two matches are the first to be confirmed following the ECB’s recent announcement that The Ageas Bowl will host a raft of internationals over the coming years – including, for the first time in the venue’s history, a Men’s Ashes Test in 2027 and a Women’s Ashes Test in 2031.

Demand for both 2024 iT20s is expected to be high after tickets to both the Women’s Ashes ODI and Men’s ODI against New Zealand sold out – the former guaranteeing a record 12,000 attendance for a women’s game at The Ageas Bowl.

Interest in international cricket has never been higher; all five Tests for this year’s Men’s Ashes sold out, while every venue hosting a Women’s Ashes match this summer is on course to break its record attendance for a women’s fixture. Broadcast viewing figures are also up across the board.

The best way to secure a ticket to either of the iT20s at The Ageas Bowl next year is to take out a 2024 Club Membership, which comes with a ballot beating priority booking window for all international fixtures at the venue, and goes on sale at the end of August.

Non-members will have to enter a ticket ballot, opening on 30 August, with any remaining tickets going on general sale on 12 October.

We know supporters were as excited as we were by the recent announcement that The Ageas Bowl has been awarded a significant number of international cricket matches over the coming years, and it is brilliant to be able to announce details of next summer’s fixtures. We expect both matches to sell out, so our advice to supporters is to register online ahead of the ballot, or beat the ballot by purchasing a Hampshire membership for the 2024 season (available in late-August), which will include the option to upgrade and include the international fixtures.

The cricket world is currently glued to the Ashes and England v Australia matches are always filled with drama, so for us to be able to host our own instalment of what is one of the most captivating rivalries in world sport is fantastic. We have also just seen our Women’s Ashes ODI fixture later this month officially sell-out, meaning we’ll welcome a crowd of 12,000 people to the stadium – the largest attendance we’ve ever had for a women’s match.

To follow that up next year against another leading international team in New Zealand is brilliant and hosting such high-profile fixtures can only help us continue to grow the game here in Hampshire.
