Hampshire had a total of nine representatives in The Hundred this season, with many impressing on the big stage.
Find out how they got on during the 100-ball competition below.
Birmingham Phoenix – James Fuller, Benny Howell & Chris Wood
Birmingham Phoenix had good campaign in 2024, making it to the Eliminator before they were defeated by Southern Brave in a Super Five. Benny Howell played all nine matches and was a crucial part of the side. He took five wickets and scored 60 runs from six innings with the bat.
Ahead of the start of the competition, Chris Wood was also selected by the Phoenix and became an invaluable member of their attack as the competition went on. He ended up playing five matches, taking seven wickets at an impressive average of 15.00.
James Fuller also made one appearance for the Phoenix, during their win over London Spirit.
London Spirit – Liam Dawson & Tom Prest
All-rounder Liam Dawson had an inspired campaign for the Lord’s based London Spirit, with both the bat and the ball. He took the joint most amount of wickets for his side with seven – which came at an average of 19.28. His 3/10 against Welsh Fire led the team to victory and earned him the player of the match award.
Meanwhile, he also was the top run scorer for the Spirit – despite batting towards the end of the order. His 142 runs came at an average of 28.40 and included scores of 45* against Southern Brave and 36 against Birmingham Phoenix.
Tom Prest was selected as a replacement for Ollie Pope ahead of Spirit’s final match of the competition, but was not picked to play.
Manchester Originals – Scott Currie
After an impressive Vitality Blast campaign while on loan at Leicestershire, Scott Currie was selected as a wildcard by 2023 finalists Manchester Originals. The 23-year-old bowler played in all eight of the Originals’ group matches and continued to show his ability. Currie finished the competition with seven wickets – the joint most of anyone in the side.
Southern Brave – James Vince & Joe Weatherley
Hampshire and Southern Brave skipper James Vince was one of the competition’s star players, finishing second in the PCA MVP rankings for The Hundred. He led his side to the final, as they fell short of a second title at the hands of Oval Invincibles. But Vince’s performances were something to behold.
The 33-year-old was the top run scorer in the competition with 424 across his ten matches – which was over 150 more than anyone else. They also came at a sensational average of 53.00 and he made scores over fifty on four occasions. Finally, he scored the second and fourth highest individual score of the competition (90* v Birmingham Phoenix and 73* v Welsh Fire).
Joe Weatherley was in the Brave squad throughout the competition but did not make an appearance.
Trent Rockets – John Turner
23-year-old John Turner has been a revelation in white-ball cricket in the last couple of years. Having only made one appearance in last year’s competition, 2024 saw more opportunities for Turner at Trent Bridge.
Though his first match ended abruptly after he bowled two high no balls, he bounced back superbly to take five wickets from the Rockets’ final three matches. His impressive bowling average of just 11.60 was the fourth best in the competition – from players who had played at least four matches – and his best figures came at Utilita Bowl, where he took 3/24.
