Metro Bank One-Day Cup, women's competition - Yorkshire 166 lost to Hampshire 167/3 by seven wickets

Amanda-Jade Wellington spun Yorkshire into a web in the Metro Bank One-Day Cup to take the third five-wicket haul of her List A career.

Australian Wellington tore through the visitors to claim five for 25 for her best 50-overs figures of the season – the leg spinner also bagged five, and a hat-trick in the Vitality Blast against Essex.

Naomi Dattani also took three – having recently recovered from an illness – as Yorkshire only managed 166, despite Jess Jonassen scoring a classy 64.

Georgia Adams made light work of the chase by backing up her century in the last match with a half-century as Hampshire won by seven wickets.

Hampshire had already booked a place in the knockouts, but still had hope of qualifying directly for the Final – which will be played at Utilita Bowl on September 19.

Yorkshire are already out of contention for qualification but won the toss and chose to bat first on the pitch which had been used for the Rothesay County Championship match earlier this week.

For that match, the wicket had turned plenty, so it was little surprise that Wellington found success.

But Dattani starred first. Her first ball got a wafty edge out of Alice Clarke before also getting an edge to take the crucial wicket of Lauren Winfield-Hill.

Jonassen made sure there wasn’t an immediate collapse as she skipped along unworried by Dattani’s accuracy and Wellington’s entrance to the attack.

The Australian veteran is the third-top scorer in the competition, averaging almost 45.

But as has often been the case this season, no one capitalised on her fifth 50-plus score, as Wellington took charge and Yorkshire lost seven wickets for 31 runs.

Wellington began her domination by bowling Sterre Kalis, via an inside edge, before delivering the perfect leg spin, filled with flight and deception.

Abi Norgrove took a sensational catch at square leg to dismiss Jonassen, and then Dattani returned to bowl Ami Campbell.

Wellington turned into a swallow to take a flying and swooping caught and bowled to remove Claudie Cooper, before reaching her five-for with a pair of leading edges.

Adams rounded up the innings when Sarah Glenn turned to short fine as Yorkshire fell far below par, setting Hampshire 167 to win.

Ella McCaughan set the tone of the straightforward chase with some lovely-timed boundaries, but Adams did the heavy lifting.

The Hampshire skipper has come out the back of The Hundred – which she won with Trent Rockets and was Meerkat Match Hero in the Final – in fine form.

Having scored centuries against Surrey and Durham, she kept the roll going with an effortless 61.

Jonassen had McCaughan and Abi Norgrove caught, and even though Holly Garton bowled Adams, it was a comfortable home win – as Cesca Sweet demonstrated her high talents with her third fifty of the season.
