T20 Look Back: Scott Currie v Surrey

Scott Currie was the star bowler in Hampshire Hawks first home fixture of 2021

Hampshire’s first home fixture of the 2021 Vitality Blast saw Surrey visit The Ageas Bowl.

Although the result did not go the way of the home team, academy graduate Scott Currie once again showed his talent on the big stage.

Impressive figures of 3/21 from only three overs helped restrict Surrey to 146/7 from their 20 overs.

Currie’s first scalp of the evening was that of hard-hitting batter Will Jacks, having the right hander caught at mid-off after an opening stand worth 51 with fellow opener Jamie Smith.

England’s Ollie Pope was then spectacularly caught down the leg side by Lewis McManus off the bowling of Currie, a well-directed bouncer could only be guided to the Hampshire Wicket-Keeper.

The well set Jamie Smith, who top scored with 59, could only spoon an off-cutter from Currie into the grateful hands of Brad Wheal fielding at backward point.
