Glamorgan v Hampshire, LV= Insurance County Championship Division Two, 22nd - 25th September 2014

Hampshire started their final game of the 2014 County Championship against Glamorgan 18 points behind Worcestershire, knowing they needed the Division Two leaders to slip up in their final game to stand any chance of winning the title.

After they were bowled out for just 84 in their first innings by Essex at Chelmsford, it was up to Hampshire to take advantage at Sophia Gardens.

Centuries from James Vince and Sean Ervine saw them do just that as they finished the first day all out on 357.

They asserted their dominance on day two with Chris Wood and Matt Coles taking four and three wickets apiece as Glamorgan were bowled out for 172.

Captain Jimmy Adams top scored with a classy 91 in the second innings, which had run over in to day three, before they eventually declared on 258/9, meaning that they needed to skittle their hosts for less than 443 to win the match.

James Tomlinson wiped out their first six batters within the first 15 overs and Glamorgan fell for just 152, giving Hampshire a 291-run win with a day to spare.

They picked up 23 points with the result, and with Worcestershire only picking up two in their innings defeat against Essex, to be crowned Division Two champions.
