Southern Vipers Secure Services Of Australian All-rounder Charli Knott

21-year-old all-rounder Charli Knott will be available for the first ten RHFT matches and the entirety of the CEC campaign

Australian Charli Knott has joined Southern Vipers for the majority of the 2024 summer.

Knott, 21, will be available for the first ten Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy (RHFT) matches and the entirety of Southern Vipers’ Charlotte Edwards Cup (CEC) campaign.

The batting all-rounder featured 17 times for Brisbane Heat in this winter’s Women’s Big Bash League and scored 283 runs at a strike rate of 147, and claimed ten wickets with a best of 3-33.

In the Women’s National Cricket League, Australia’s domestic 50-over competition, Knott has scored 253 runs this season, the fourth most for Queensland, at an average of 36.14.

I cannot wait to be a part of the Vipers squad. Playing in the UK has been something I have been wanting to do for quite some time now so I am thrilled at the opportunity. It is always exciting getting to learn from new players and different environments. There is a lot of talent in the Vipers squad but I hope to be able to contribute to another successful year and go back to back.

Charli Knott

Knott made her professional debut in 2018, aged just 15, against Tasmania, and a few months later playing for Australia U19s, she claimed figures of 4-20 against New Zealand Women’s Development XI.

In 2021, she recorded her career-best score of 68 batting at three against New South Wales, and made 51 for Wellington in the 2022-23 Super Smash.

Knott was also part of Australia’s tour of England last summer, where she played seven times for Australia A and scored 155 runs and took six wickets.

In Charli Knott, we feel we’ve recruited a young player of massive potential who demonstrates all that we like in a cricketer. Having first seen her live in England, as part of the Australia A tour last summer, we’ve kept a close eye on her progress, and without doubt, following a superb WBBL for Brisbane Heat, we feel we have a player equipped to contribute commendably to both white ball competitive formats.

We’re delighted that Charli has made herself available for as many games as she has and we hope we can provide her with an environment and a quality of stay that will see her flourish across the whole of the CEC, and most of the RHFT. Our summer objective is to consolidate as a squad to remain competitive, following what was an incredible 2023. We believe Charli will play her part in us fulfilling our goal.
