Hampshire Cricket Board hosts annual community cricket festival at Wellington Sports Ground

Over 300 people attended the annual Brave Fest, a community cricket festival run by Hampshire Cricket Board, at Wellington Sports Ground on 10 August.

The festival welcomed participants from across Hampshire Cricket Board’s community-based urban programmes that operate across the county. There was a 19% increase in the number of attendees at the festival compared to last year.

Cricket matches and activations were held that provided a tailored experience for all players regardless of their age and ability. Life skills workshops were delivered by partner organisations including Fit4Her Gym, the Royal Navy, Saints Foundation, Energise Sports, Solent Mind and Chase Cricket.

It was the 4^th edition of Brave Fest and reached new heights by partnering with local business and event sponsor, Fit4Her Gym, which increased delivery partner capacity and led more families engaging, particularly young people from underserved areas of Hampshire.

Players were invited from Lord’s Taverners Wicketz, Chance to Shine Street and the MCC Foundation Hub programmes to King Edwards School’s facility, Wellington Sports Ground for the annual event.

Lunch was equally memorable, with attendees having lunch provided by Hampshire Cricket Board while the Swan Samba Band brought plenty of energy and atmosphere to the event.

Brave Fest showcased the outstanding work happening in Hampshire’s urban area and the importance of the ongoing mission to make the sport accessible for everyone.
